Elysium - Nuova Civiltà Records
With their debut release Unmasking The Heart - In The Air, The Veiled Mirror makes a hauntingly elegant entrance into the current electronic landscape. Released via Nuova Civiltà Records on the Elysium sub-label-a division dedicated to the most evocative, atmospheric edges of the catalog-this two-track project is a masterclass in early 80s nostalgia.
The release captures the quintessence of the New Romantic and New Wave era, where the boundaries between theatrical art-pop and cold, rhythmic precision dissolve. Each track is a nocturnal excursion, defined by lush, ethereal synthesizer swells and driving, melancholic basslines that echo the golden age of post-punk club culture. It is the perfect marriage of vulnerability and machine-driven cool.
While these tracks carry the weight of a rain-streaked midnight in a concrete city, they are unmistakably built for the dancefloor. They possess that rare "refined dance" quality-music designed for dimly lit rooms, velvet-draped spaces, and audiences that crave the sophisticated gloom of the 1980s. Whether it is the crystalline shimmer of In The Air or the deep, emotional resonance of Unmasking The Heart, the production feels both authentic to its vintage roots and bracingly modern in its clarity.
The Veiled Mirror has crafted an experience that is as much a mood as it is a beat. This is music for the romantics, the dreamers, and the night owls who find solace in the neon glow of a synthesizer’s hum.
