New Sound Academy - Nuova Civiltà Records
The new single Vora Nym by the project Eirith, released via Nuova Civiltà Records under the New Sound Academy sub-label within the Dreamy subdivision, stands as a total immersion into the floating architectures of shoegaze and ethereal wave. The release aligns with that noble musical tradition where sound ceases to be merely a vehicle for notes and structures, transforming instead into a three-dimensional, enveloping, and contemplative space.
Historically born in the UK between the late 1980s and early 1990s, shoegaze and ethereal pop redefined the very concept of guitar and vocals in the alternative landscape. The aesthetic built its identity on the creative abuse of delays, reverse reverbs, and analog saturations capable of blending together to create majestic, dense walls of sound. In this context, the voice sheds its traditional narrative function to become an additional instrument, an impalpable whisper drowned in the mix.
Concurrently, the ethereal nuance introduced a near-spiritual component to the genre, enriching it with cathedral-like resonances, crystalline arpeggios, and a distinct penchant for temporal suspension. The intersection of these two languages, evoked in the concept of Vora Nym, generates a fascinating contrast between the almost physical density of the background drones and the extreme lightness of the high frequencies. Eirith thus delivers a testament to how the emotional impact of music can reside entirely within timbral texture and the evocative power of its atmospheres.
